Historically, the wedding DJ scene has been dominated by males. It’s almost a little ironic too, as the wedding industry in general is considered to be a ‘girls club’ (as opposed to a ‘boys club’ traditionally in many other industries).
Don’t get me wrong, men make incredible wedding DJs. Regardless, it isn’t really about a person’s gender or any other identity marker that makes them a great DJ either.
However, some women do have a few advantages in supporting the Bride/s and women (or gender fluid) members of the Wedding Party.
As a relatively feminine woman (not without her Tom Boy tenancies), there are certain items that I carry around with me in preparation for any beauty blow-outs or wardrobe malfunctions. There’s a long list of things that I’ve had on hand that have saved the day for countless Brides, bridal party members and even the odd Groom. Some of these include;
- Band aids
- Booby Tape
- Bobby Pins/Safety Pins
- Eyelash Glue
- Feminine Hygiene Products
- Deodorant (the stuff that doesn’t leave any marks)
and more…..(I don’t want to give away too many of our trade secrets)
